Viewed, Intrusively.

OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is a mental and behavioural disorder that causes people to engage in repetitive behaviours and/or have unpleasant thoughts. It affects between 1.1 percent and 1.8 percent of the world's population. However, there is a widespread misconception that OCD is solely motivated by a desire for menial organisation.

Since I was a teenager, I had suffered from Harm OCD. I refused to carry a knife near people I care about because I was terrified of acting on violent repetitive thoughts and unpleasant urges. This personal project investigates how someone suffering from Harm OCD can appear innocent and put together while suffering from debilitating, violent intrusive thoughts.

"Viewed, Intrusively" portrays the isolation I faced caused by internal shame and guilt. Moreover, it also depicts some of the obsessions that occupy my mind. After understanding my OCD, it is important to discuss how someone with OCD, such as myself, can manage their condition while debunking common misconceptions about it.
